November 2007 News Letter

My Brother Knights:

By the conclusion of our Nov 1st business meeting, we will have had two church membership blitzes, a first degree, and an insurance night all in the course of three weeks!   We have added three new Brothers to our Council out of the eight that took their first degree on Oct 18th.  We welcome Dan Zarzycki, sponsored by Vinnie Lobello, Daniel Cichocki, sponsored by Peter Jurewicz, and Frank Ruvo, sponsored by distant cousin Jim Ruvo.  Also welcome transfer Robert Marsh and re-instated Brother Glen Bogdon.

Thanks to Mike Cczucknicki and his First Degree Team, especially Dan Lienick who performed his “first” as the Chancellor and Joe Milano who performed the role as Warden for this degree.  Remember that membership is continuous...we need all Brothers to be constantly looking for good candidates to add to our great Council.

Anyone interested in being on the Scholarship Committee must call me by November 10th.

I do not want to take for granted the work that is put forth to provide the meals for our social meetings.  Brother Joe ‘Iron Chef’ Kowalski was our cook for our September meeting making Italian hot dogs and our October meeting - Pasta night.  Please come and sample Joe’s cooking at our future social meetings.  Again, Joe is a Brother who has stepped up to donate his time and his talents for our Council.  I would like to honor Joe Kowalski as the November Knight of the Month.

Vivat Jesus,

Dennis

REMEMBER GUYS… November’s Social Meeting is NOV 15TH

It’s Turkey Night… a traditional Thanksgiving meal will be served  !!!

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

As you all know, our annual family Christmas party will take place on Saturday, December 1st at OLM Parish Center.  In addition to being a wonderful way to kick-off the holidays, we also hold a raffle proceeds of which go to youth programs at Notre Dame and OLM.

Please do your best to sell the raffle tickets that were sent to you last month and send the stubs to Knights of Columbus, P.O. Box 161, Whippany, NJ, 07981 or bring them to the next meeting.  If you have any questions, or need more tickets, please contact George Coppola at 973-503-1127.

Once again Elizabeth Ann Seton Council 6904 outdid itself on Hanover Township Day.  The  weather was beautiful, the food was plentiful and the activities were many.  As in the past, our Council handled the corn and soda concessions.  For whatever reason, this year the corn was excellent.  It surely must have been a banner year at Orts Farm which provides the corn.  Even the soda selection was pleasantly different.  However, the one thing that no longer amazes me is the fact that whenever there is a function “THEY WILL COME” AND BOY DID THEY COME.  We had approximately twenty-one Brothers and three sons helping out that day.  I can't tell you how great it makes me feel knowing that I am associated with such a caring bunch of men and young men actively involved with the Elizabeth Ann Seton Council 6904.  Thank you to Brothers Joe “the Killer” Kowalski, Joe Milano, John Guido, Derek Jess, Dennis Dittrick, ‘Topsie’ Tony Lentine, Jim ‘yak-yak’ Ruvo, Dan ‘the camera man’ Aloia, Jerry Martino, Nick Cetrulo, Richard Koch, Bob Smith, Paul Lonero, Joe, Kevin and Nathan Ward, Vince and Daniel Lobello, Bob Peters, Bob Fleiger, Mike Ricciardi, John O'Brien, Ted Sica, Big Joe Barron, and Carmen Blandino. We also had Brothers Fred Meola and Mayor Ron Francioli working at the Hot Dog Tent.  THANK YOU GUYS, YOU DID A GREAT JOB!!!   I Love being a part of the K of C and especially of our Council.

May the Peace of the Lord be with you and your families always...George

» At the OLM golf outing, Brother Tony (Tiger Woods) Lentine missed a hole-in-one by inches!  Nice going Tony!!

» Brothers Dennis Dittrick and Joe Pissauro organized a nice dinner-dance at Our Lady of Mercy and you could "Feel the Love".
» Once again I'll be collecting hats, scarves and toiletries for Eva's Christmas.  Call me for pickup or give me money and I'll do the shopping.
» You ought to see the huge batch of hats and scarves Marie Zicarrello (Tom's wife) knitted for Eva's Kitchen.
» Last year Brother John Carman put a collection box where he works and was surprised at the favorable response. Nice going John!
» Had a nice long chat with Brother Lou Alfieri, PGK.  Everything fine with him in Florida and, oh yeah, he "almost" fogot to mention .... he had another HOLE-IN-ONE.  Congratulations, Lou!!
» Brother George Coppola, PGK, serving on the School Board, trying desperately to keep our taxes down.  Keep up the good work, George.
» Say another prayer for Brother Bob Brueno.
» Don't forget, we'll be serving "coffee and" for Thanksgiving at both churches.
